JVPC works for (at least) the following Java Virtual Machines

Name Version Platform Remarks
Kaffe 1.1.4 Personal Java PC/debian unstable,
iPAQ/Linux
Fast. If 'v'iewing something becomes slow, close the viewing window (e.g. shipwindow) and open a new one. Kaffe won't produce textChanged events on all keys, so make sure your last action is *adding* text (and verify by switching to Incoming and to Outcoming again) Kaffe is in big flux, cvs does some things better, but is unbearably slow on iPAQ.
Sun jdk1.2.2 Java 1.2 PC/debian unstable Slow, but works.
Sun jdk1.3.1_07 Java 1.3 PC/debian unstable. Works fine.
Sun j2sdk1.4.1
Sun j2re1.4.1_01
Java 1.4 PC/debian unstable Tab and Shift-Tab are broken (use Q and Shift-Q instead).
CrEme 0.93 Dell axim x3i/WinCE Reported by Rob Stanway
IBM J9/websphere EME J2ME Dell axim (PocketPC2003) Reported by Michael Hodgins; the JVM costs $6; see his guide
Jeode 2003 version iPAQ/PocketPC Reported by DarkPollo; commercial JVM; comes with CD for some iPAQ models

Doesn't work for the following JVMs

I lost my Sun 1.1.x engines, so I can't tell you whether it works (but it should, jikes still compiled with the ibm 1.1.8 classes.zip). Haven't tried jdk1.5 yet and would love to hear about JVMs as SavaJe, Sable and Wonka. I'm interested to know what (compiler!) gcj4 does, too.

Additional JVMs for VPCheck

Since VPCheck only uses text, there (probably :) are a few extra JVMs that work with it. Note: Ewe VM is not a Java VM. It can use Waba as Java-like VM, which is a subset of the normal Java specs and classes. Mainly, it misses java.awt, so who knows, it might just run VPCheck :)
